In October 2024, the European E-Learning Institute (EUEI) proudly joined fellow FAIR FASHION project partners in Mönchengladbach, Germany, for the official project launch. Hosted by Hochschule Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences (NUAS), the two-day kick-off meeting brought together education and industry experts from across Europe to initiate an ambitious journey toward sustainable and digitally innovative fashion education.

A Launch Full of Energy

Taking place at NUAS’s HNX Start-up Lab – a dynamic space for innovation and entrepreneurship – the meeting was a fitting start to a project committed to transforming how sustainability and digital literacy are embedded in fashion and textile education.

Day one focused on building relationships, aligning visions, and laying the foundation for collaboration. EUEI introduced the suite of digital collaboration tools we’ll be using throughout the project — ensuring seamless communication and coordination among partners. We also contributed to early planning discussions around quality assurance, evaluation, and sustainability reporting.

Setting the Direction

Day two zoomed in on the project’s first major deliverables: a Digital Toolkit and Case Studies collection. These resources will support educators in embedding green and digital skills into their fashion teaching practice. EUEI will play a key role in designing these outputs, drawing on our expertise in digital pedagogy, instructional design, and sustainability education.

We also joined strategic sessions on branding, outreach, and the FAIR FASHION website — which we’ll lead in developing and maintaining.

What’s Next?

We left Mönchengladbach feeling energised, with clear goals and a strong team spirit. Our role at EUEI will focus on producing high-impact, accessible, and visually engaging tools and content that can be used across diverse education settings — from fashion schools to vocational training and adult learning programmes.

Stay tuned as we share updates from our development of the FAIR FASHION Digital Toolbox, new case studies from sustainability pioneers, and more resources to support the next generation of changemakers in fashion.
