Project Description

The SDS4HEI Project is an initiative focusing on integrating sustainability into all aspects of Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) across Europe. It aims to embed sustainable development goals (SDGs) as a core component within the strategic plans, organisational culture, teaching, and onsite practices of HEIs. This project is in response to the growing need for HEIs to contribute significantly to sustainable development goals, recognising that sustainability is not just about offering related courses but should permeate every classroom and operational aspect, including carbon footprint reduction, campus management, and community impact.
Project Result 1
Involves the creation of a Framework for Sustainable Development within HEIs. This framework, developed through collaborative research among project partners, focuses on systematically implementing Sustainable Development Strategies in Higher Education Institutes. It will offer engagement and entrepreneurship strategies aimed at long-term sustainable development, with actions that can be implemented immediately.
Project Result 2
Is the development of a Self-Assessment Tool for Sustainable Development within HEIs. This tool will provide tailored recommendations for how Higher Education Institutions can progress towards sustainable development in practical and tangible ways.
Project Result 3
Is the establishment of a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). The primary goal of this MOOC is to utilise the teaching and learning resources developed by the project, offering students at HEIs the opportunity to acquire sustainable development skills alongside their traditional courses. The course is designed to be user-friendly and widely accessible.
